Welcome to the City of Mitchell

Mitchell is located in Lawrence County, nestled in the hills of Southern Indiana. It is only 90 miles south of Indianapolis and 73 miles north of Louisville. With a population size of 3,900 (give or take a few dogs and cats), Mitchell is a wonderful place to live with a great school system and retirement community. We are proud to be the home of astronaut, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom, and Spring Mill State Park.
